Last Saturday, June 15th, we held this exciting competition for the first time in the lecture hall of Building VIII at MUST. 🎉

In a given AWS cloud environment, 67 engineers from 19 teams competed in a CTF-style team competition, showcasing their skills, knowledge, and experience. 💻🏆

The competition lasted a total of 4 hours, during which participants solved the 5 tasks provided. The scores were as follows:

• 🥇 1st place - "Olympus" with 726,196 points
• 🥈 2nd place - "Cloud Conquerors" with 638,104 points
• 🥉 3rd place - "depressed AWS Enjoyers" with 568,807 points
• 🏅 4th place - "btw we use localhost for deployment" with 501,695 points
• 🏅 5th place - "Lam" with 337,614 points
• 🏅 6th place - "OOPS" with 298,740 points

The competition was intense, with the battle for first place continuing until the final moments. In the last 10 seconds, team Olympus successfully completed their task and secured full points to claim first place. 🏅⏱️ The winning teams received special gifts and credits from AWS and the organizers, with the first-place team taking home 1,000,000₮ in cash. 💸🏅 Additionally, the runner-up teams won gift cards from shoppy.mn. 🎁🎉

Graduates celebrating their graduation also joined the event and completed tasks. It is noteworthy that the team "Lam," which placed 5th, had only one member. 👨‍💻🏅

The organizers hope to continue this innovative competition next year with even more participants. 🎉📅

On June 14-15, IT professionals, especially those who run their server infrastructure and develop on cloud technology, gathered and spent two days immersed in technology. ☁️👩‍💻👨‍💻

At the AWS Community Day event, held for the second time this year, experts from Amazon Web Services and engineers from leading local technology solution companies shared their knowledge and experiences. On March 21, 2024, we hosted another cloud meetup at the Chinggis Khan Museum in Ulaanbaatar. Within this meetup, we discussed the cloud computing movement, focusing particularly on how AI will boost our future in terms of technology. The subjects we discussed included the lessons learned and new services that AWS launched during re:Invent 2024, as well as the new product, Bedrock.

We also demonstrated the open-source Llama model on a GPU cloud instance on AWS. Additionally, our co-organizer, Databank, shared about how they successfully manage the financial infrastructure on Kubernetes. Another co-organizer, Khan Bank, the biggest bank in Mongolia, shared their experience regarding IT team organization and effective teamwork.

This meetup differed from previous ones as it was hosted at a heritage site, the great Khan's museum, and its vibrant vibe was aesthetically pleasing to intersect IT.

Now that the long winter is over in Mongolia and people are less inclined to stay at home, we plan to organize regular offline events in town. Stay in touch, as we will have our AWS Community Days, a 2-day event, in mid-June.

AWS Community Day 2023 in Mongolia was a tremendous success, organized jointly by the AWS user group of Mongolia, FIBO CLOUD, and TECH PARTNERS.

On the 7th of June 2023, we hosted an exceptional event, bringing together AWS enthusiasts and users in Mongolia. The event attracted a diverse audience of around 200 participants, including business and technical professionals, engineers from leading technology companies, and AWS users from various industries.

The event comprised two main components:

Insightful Sessions: At the four-hour event, six presentations were delivered on topics such as "AWS Firecracker Technical Fundamentals, GenAI on AWS, options and demo, Chaos Engineering, AWS Eventbridge, AWS Empowered Message Pro's Development, Cody aka Shoppy.mn System Architecture." These high-quality presentations provided valuable insights and technical insights to the attendees.

Technical Fundamentals and Networking: The event provided an excellent platform for networking and collaboration among attendees. It fostered an environment where participants could interact with industry professionals, gain insights into technical advancements, and exchange valuable information.

The AWS Community Day 2023 event was hosted at Shangri-La, in the IMAX 5 hall, creating a vibrant and conducive atmosphere for learning and engagement.

Furthermore, the event facilitated continuous learning through Q&A sessions, enabling attendees to address their queries and receive detailed responses from the speakers. The interaction between participants and presenters enhanced the overall experience and contributed to the knowledge-sharing aspect of the event.

🤘🤘 Cloud Community's latest meetup in Mongolia was a resounding success!

On April 11, 2023, we hosted a vibrant event with nearly 170 participants, mainly consisting of final year IT students and young engineers who share a deep passion for cloud computing.

The event featured two main parts:

1. Informative lectures on AWS and Kubernetes, delivered by seasoned Senior Engineers from two highly respected companies, FIBO CLOUD and AND GLOBAL.

2. A thought-provoking panel discussion on the topic of "Is IT certification necessary?" which sparked engaging conversations among the attendees.
To add an element of fun and excitement, we also organized a Kahoot quiz game in the final segment of the event, where participants enthusiastically competed for valuable prizes. The winner received a coveted gift, such as 3-day tickets to the PlayTime music festival and exclusive AWS vouchers, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.

The energy and enthusiasm of the attendees were palpable, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. We organized a meeting about ☁️ PAAS platform, among more than 40 CTOs and senior engineers working in local organizations, and collected open opinions about the product. We are deeply grateful to the distinguished engineers and technical experts who came and participated.

On 2023/03/22 – This year continues to see explosions in AI.

One example of this is the ChatGPT project. The artificial intelligence can be integrated with other programs, and in this topic we have a technical talk about how to integrate it into your system.
Davkharbayar Myagmar, CTO of Fractal Technologies, was a speaker at this event, and he presented a possible solution to make a Messenger chatbot using cloud services (S3, Lambda, Translate) and ready-made tools such as Meta, Chimege, OpenAI, etc.

On 2023.02.01 - Serverless & Passwordless
The trend of technology development is to make it easier for people to use and develop.

Perhaps the underlying infrastructure is already in place, and the tools that make it easier could be the next big business.

On this topic, Zolboobayar, CTO of Meta Global Inc., shared his experience as a speaker.

In the first part, we talked about the experience of moving the architecture to a serverless architecture, and explained the considerations and cost savings in this case.

The next section discusses the concept and application of how to develop Passwordless systems using biometrics and identification chips in devices without recording user passwords. This is solved by the FIDO alliance protocol, and the future trend is passwordless and easier to use.

The event continued in the form of question-and-answer and getting to know each other.

On 2022.07.21,

Ganjiguur, the organizer of Cloud Community Ulaanbaatar, together with Astana Hub, the heart of Central Asian IT startups located in Nursultan, Kazakhstan, gave a presentation on topic "Building a scalable system on Cloud".

The presentation consisted of 3 main parts, and the first part touched on the differences between Mongolia's IT ecosystem and the technology stack of engineers.

In the second part, the important understanding that should be taken into account in making a scalable system is explained in detail at the theoretical level, but without making it too complicated. He talked about the important role of cloud computing technology in order to do this. Cloud services corresponding to each section and its use, simple configuration and billing model are also discussed.

Part 3 explains the essential concepts of cloud technology and the differences between Iaas, Paas, and Saas and what advantages they bring to developers.

In addition to AWS, he talked about the differences between the services of domestic cloud providers such as Yandex cloud and PS service, and shared his experience with other related technologies to build scalable systems such as Kubernetes and OpenShift.

The activities of the Astana Hub educational programs office are aimed at fueling the pool of Kazakhstani talents in the field of IT through the popularization of technology entrepreneurship and training skills necessary to create a technology startup.

The feedback from the people who attended the event was very high and they say that they learned a lot of things they didn't know. Also, the speech was broadcasted live on the social channels of the Astana hub.

In 2022.06.30 — The 19th meeting of the Hack Night series was organized at Moffice Coworking on the topic of Building Lakehouse on AWS 😎😎

P. Bokhbayar - Explained about the differences between Big data, Datalake and Warehouse and performed a simple experiment on AWS.

This event was organized in a more private manner, and the engineers gathered and shared their experiences, drinking beers and eating pizza.

We organized a small-scale trivia competition about the cloud computing and the winner of the game got a "Cloud Community Ulaanbaatar" merch t-shirt.

In 2022.04.21 — The 17th meeting of the Hack Night series was organized at Moffice Coworking on the theme of AWS CDK 😎😎

Erdenazaya, who works remotely for Inveterate USA, chaired the meeting and shared her experience on the stage.

1. AWS CDK — Manage your cloud environment using program code.
2. Turing.com shared his experience of working for a US company full-time using a job placement platform.

Since then, the group has been renamed Cloud Community Ulaanbaatar and is expanding into a community of engineers interested in community cloud services such as AWS, Azure, Google cloud, Ora cloud, Alibaba, and Cloud.mn. All the information technology engineers share their experiences with others to help the community meet new people, learn, and expand their comfort zones.
